The 2019 Avenal Sand Drags Fall Nationals is in the record books after a great Day 3 of 300' sand drag racing in Avenal, California. Jim Hammond was the Top Alcohol winner recording a 2.63 ET in the final round. Terry Crawford wheeled his “Yabba Dabba Doo” Dragster to the Top Eliminator winners circle after getting a solo to the win as Craig Brewster was unable to start in the lanes. Nick Shultzman was the Pro Mod winner while Sally Rasmussen turned on the final win light in Fast Fours. Kenny Hayes not only took the Pro 1 class victory over Robert Watanabe, but he also earned the CSDC points championship. This was Kenny's second final round win of the day as he was victorious in the conclusion of Saturday's Pro Gambler over Bill Meaney. Chris Adamson was almost another double winner on the day as he took the win in Pro 2 defeating this season's class champion Tommy Zavala. Then in the Pro 3 category, this year's class champion Adamson reached his 4th final of the season, but came up just short in the final to winner April Soares. Tyler Hanrahan scored the Motorcycle Pro 1 class victory as well as earned the points championship with a clutch final round win over Jayden Pena. Tyler Berg got the job done in the Motorcycle Pro 2 class defeating this year's champion Randy Mings in the final. Junior class winners on the day were Troy Adamson (Junior Dragster), Maddox Pena (Juniors) and Easton Moran (Youth).

The 2019 Avenal Sand Drags Fall Nationals kicked into high gear with an action filled day of sand drag racing in Central California. Jim Hammond stole the show in in the final qualifying session of Top Alcohol with an incredible wheelstand that landed safely en route to a weekend best 2.46 ET. Damon Hall's Friday 2.959 lap held up for the top spot in an incredibly competitive Top Eliminator category. The Top 7 qualifiers in TE ended up in a .02 window, ranging from 2.959 to 2.979. Sally Rasmussen (Fast Fours) and Nick Shultzman (Pro Mod Unlimited) were top qualifiers in their respective classes. 37 entries took to the track for Round One of the Saturday Pro Gambler. Unfortunately there was not enough daylight to finish elimiations in this class, and the remaining 19 cars will be back for Round Two Sunday morning. Friday's 3.95 Index class was completed with Chris Pintor scoring a huge win over 2019 class champion Tommy Zavala. Sportsman class winners on Saturday were Brian Chapman (Sportsman 1), Tony Soares (Sportsman 2), Ryan May (Sportsman 3), David Markle (Motorcycle Sportsman 1) and Tessa Nunes (Motorcycle Sportsman 2).

The 2019 Avenal Sand Drags Fall Nationals in Avenal, California got off to a great start on Friday under sunny skies & temperatures in the high 80's. In the Top Alcohol class, Jim Hammond clicked off a solid 2.62 to top the qualifying sheet. Damon Hall piloted the Krank-E Fiat to the Top Eliminator #1 spot with a strong 2.959 on the 2.95 Class Index. Sally Rasmussen ran a 3.10 ET to lead Fast Fours, while Nick Shultzman has the top spot in Pro Mod with a 3.31. 39 entries made the call for Round One of the Pro Gambler category on Friday. With such a big turnout and the sun setting quickly in late October, there just was not enough sunlight in the day to finish. The remaining three racers opted to split the winnings & they were: Brian Drace, Jim Suty and Sam Montgomery. And in the Motorcycle Gambler category, Marcus Riedel continued his impressive season earning the final round victory over Bert Boatman. Racing action continues all day Saturday at Avenal Sand Drags.
