It’s hard to believe, but the 2008 sand drag racing season is already underway. The season kicked off at NSDA’s season opener in Yuma, AZ a couple weeks ago. I don’t think anyone could have guessed beforehand what they would find in Yuma. What was there was an awesome facility, with a racing surface that had teeth unlike anything the west coast racers had ever seen as evidenced by the record shattering times. A top-notch race track with awesome accommodations at the near by Cocopah Casino and Resort brought somewhat of a Primm feel to the experience in Yuma. The racers who missed out are kicking themselves, and will be first in line ready to go at the next NSDA Yuma event in March. This month NSDA makes its 2008 season debut at the Soboba Casino. These events in 2007 were the biggest and baddest in the sport with over 400 entries, so this race should be something to see. To make it even better, Larry Minor is personally putting in $5K for the TF winner making it a total Top Fuel winner’s payout of $8K. That should bring out all the big boys to put on a show at the awesome Soboba facility. I mean, seriously, do we expect anything less than the greatest show in sand drag racing from the NSDA. They don’t have the need to boast that they have the greatest tracks in the country, but anyone that has attended their events knows that fact to be true.
