ionia-lead.jpgIonia Sand Drags in Ionia, MI hosted the third race of the 2009 Pro Truck Nationals series July 17-18. There was a ton of great racing action and lots of great stories at the track. Jay Poortenga was the man to beat in the Pro Truck class wading through the 18 car field to take the victory with his "Drag Nasty" Jeep.

Ben Dozeman continued his perfect season in PTN 3.5 Index class competition driving the Bad Company Jeep to his third victory of the year.

Pat Goodale wheeled the Crude Awakening Dragster to the Top Alcohol class win over a tough six car field.

Pat also set a new track record and also was the first TA racer outside of the west coast to dip into the 2.4's with a 2.485 shot during qualifying.

Tim Holstege was deadly consistent on his way to the Pro 1 class victory, defeating Brent Lokker in the final round.

Brent Lokker had a great night at Ionia taking the runner-up finish in Pro 1 as well as a semi-final finish in the tough Pro Truck class.

Ed Engel drove his Dragonfly Buggy to the Quick 8 class win while Matt Peel drove the same ride to a runner-up finish in the 3.5 Index class.

Rod Trower showed up at Ionia sporting this good looking new paint job on his TA Dragster and proceeded to race to a final round finish in the Top Alcohol class.

Last but not least, it was great to see Jeramie Boeve debut his new truck at Ionia (minus body). Jeramie has been working on this ride for a long time and it looks to have a lot of potential with shake down runs in the 4.7 range.
