tbjeeplead.jpgThe month of July saw some amazing racing in the state of Michigan. It was an amazing couple of weekends of racing action at both Ionia Sand Drags and WMSD. Let’s quickly list some of the highlights: the first 2.4 second ET outside of the west coast, a 220+ entry weekend at WMSD, 23 Pro Truck entries at the season finale, Josh Stephens running 3.0’s like a bracket car with his 4x4 Altered, Bob Gill resetting the A/Pro Jeep record nearly breaking into the 2’s with a 3.007 at Ionia, Ryan Wilson and Dan Wies batting around the B/4WD record both weekends, and a Pro Truck class championship decided on the last pass of the season. Not only did the last pass of the season in the Pro Truck class 2009 PTN season decide the championship, the margin of victory for Ben Dozeman was a mere one-thousandth of a second (.001). All this and I’d be remiss to not mention all of the racers that came in from across the country (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, etc.).

It’ll be hard to top the month of July just seen in Michigan, but I’m sure that racers across the country will bring their A-game throughout the rest of the season. In August, we see a few large events including; Gravelrama in Cleves, OH and the Battle at Big River in Bonne Terre, MO. With the help of some of our friends, NSDN plans on having news and info from these events.

Enjoy this month’s issue with race recaps from the July events in Michigan (will be online soon) as well as the Featured Racer column on Nick & Tiffany Januik. I really enjoy putting these Featured Racer stories together and feel that it is a great showcase for our sport. If you would like to be featured feel free to contact me, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and we can put something together.

It’s hard to admit it at this point, but the 2010 race season is just around the corner. NSDN is currently evaluating our plans for the 2010 season. If there is anything you would like to see on NSDN or any ideas that could be implemented to enhance the services we offer, feel free to send me an e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to discuss this. Also, we are in the process of putting together our 2010 Marketing packages. If you are interested in receiving one of these, or know of a company that we should contact, feel free to pass the contact info along to us. We strive to continue to supply the country with the most up-to-date and comprehensive news from the sport of sand drag racing.

Until next month…
