National Sand Drag News - NSDN Archive National Sand Drag News (NSDN) is an online magazine covering the sport of sand drag racing. NSDN’s full array of up to the minute news and race coverage can be found online at www.NationalSandDragNews.com. Here is a brief explanation of what NSDN covers. The fast growing motor sport of sand drag racing consists of race cars that are very similar to their asphalt drag racing counterparts racing down 300 feet long (100 yard) tracks with a sand/dirt surface. The headliners of the show are the Nitro-burning Top Fuel dragsters that cross the finish line in under 2.5 seconds and reach speeds in excess of 160 MPH. Although the Top Fuel cars are the headliners of the show, multitudes of grass roots bracket racers compile the largest racer group in the sand. NSDN focuses on the hottest properties in sand drag racing, including coverage of the Pro Truck Nationals (PTN) series and other large independent events. Other large independent races across the country are also covered. NSDN covers these events with live race updates, race results, news, features, race videos, and photos. https://nsdn.us/index.php 2024-04-28T15:04:12+00:00 National Sand Drag News editor@nsdn.us Joomla! - Open Source Content Management NSDN Daily Race Coverage - Avenal Apr '16 2016-04-21T06:12:07+00:00 2016-04-21T06:12:07+00:00 https://nsdn.us/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=913&catid=133&Itemid=38 Administrator editor@nsdn.us <center> <img alt="" src="https://nsdn.us/images/stories/issue4-16/sameday-avenalapr16.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 63px; border-width: 1px; border-style: solid;" /><br /> <br /> <span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial"><b>Presented By:</b></span><br /> <br /> <a href="http://www.avenalsanddrags.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Avenal Sand Drags Logo" src="http://www.nationalsanddragnews.com/images/stories/issue4-14/avlogo.jpg" style="border: 1px solid rgb(0, 0, 0); width: 172px; height: 118px;" title="rialtotrophylogo.png" /></a> <a href="http://www.nsdn.us/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=798"><img alt="" src="http://www.nationalsanddragnews.com/images/banners/redwarriorad.jpg" style="width: 172px; height: 118px; border-width: 1px; border-style: solid;" /></a><br /> <img alt="" src="http://www.nationalsanddragnews.com/images/stories/issue10-15/flirtin.jpg" style="border-width: 1px; border-style: solid;" /> <a href="http://www.nsdn.us/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=533"><img alt="" src="http://www.nationalsanddragnews.com/images/banners/hammerdown-ad1.jpg" style="border-width: 1px; border-style: solid; height: 110px; width: 172px;" /></a></center> <br /> <strong>Sunday<br /> <br /> </strong>The 2016 Avenal Sand Drags Spring Nationals in Avenal, CA wrapped up on Sunday with some amazing 300&rsquo; sand drag racing action. In the Top Alcohol class final round, Washington&rsquo;s Craig Mark made the long haul pay off taking a hole shot victory over many time class champion Gary Mink in a 2.48 to 2.47 decision. The Top Eliminator final round saw Jim Rossi put the &ldquo;Bad Toy&rdquo; in the Winner&rsquo;s Circle in a race decided by just .003 at the finish line defeating top qualifier Paul Taylor on a hole shot 2.97 to 2.95. A great story on the weekend was seeing Steve Foster back at the track after a few years away and he certainly didn&rsquo;t forget how to race as he took the Pro 1 victory over Chris Wells. Kevin Williams broke his own Jeep on Saturday, but jumped in good friend Bill Meaney&rsquo;s Jeep on Sunday &amp; raced his way to the Pro 2 victory over Chris Adamson. Charlie Johnson backed up his strong Saturday night Pro Gambler Runner-Up with the Sunday Pro 3 class victory getting around Al McKinney, who redlighted by a mere .001 in the final. Michael Johnson (Motorcycle Pro 1) and Austin Thomas (Motorcycle Pro 2) were the Sunday ATV class champions. The Junior classes were won by Destiny Burris (Juniors), Jayden Pena (Intermediate), and Karsyn Cress (Peewees). <strong>**Run Sheets are now posted!!**</strong><br /> <br /> <center> <img alt="" src="https://nsdn.us/images/stories/issue4-16/sameday-avenalapr16.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 63px; border-width: 1px; border-style: solid;" /><br /> <br /> <span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial"><b>Presented By:</b></span><br /> <br /> <a href="http://www.avenalsanddrags.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Avenal Sand Drags Logo" src="http://www.nationalsanddragnews.com/images/stories/issue4-14/avlogo.jpg" style="border: 1px solid rgb(0, 0, 0); width: 172px; height: 118px;" title="rialtotrophylogo.png" /></a> <a href="http://www.nsdn.us/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=798"><img alt="" src="http://www.nationalsanddragnews.com/images/banners/redwarriorad.jpg" style="width: 172px; height: 118px; border-width: 1px; border-style: solid;" /></a><br /> <img alt="" src="http://www.nationalsanddragnews.com/images/stories/issue10-15/flirtin.jpg" style="border-width: 1px; border-style: solid;" /> <a href="http://www.nsdn.us/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=533"><img alt="" src="http://www.nationalsanddragnews.com/images/banners/hammerdown-ad1.jpg" style="border-width: 1px; border-style: solid; height: 110px; width: 172px;" /></a></center> <br /> <strong>Sunday<br /> <br /> </strong>The 2016 Avenal Sand Drags Spring Nationals in Avenal, CA wrapped up on Sunday with some amazing 300&rsquo; sand drag racing action.
